What Car Should I Buy? 5 Tips to Find The Right Car For You
Buying a car is a big decision. You need a car that's practical for your lifestyle. So when you're wondering what car should I buy, look here for tips.

Used, certified preowned, new, one-year used, hybrids, four-wheel drive, etc. There are a lot of different types of cars to choose from.
A large selection is a great thing when it comes to price, but it can make answering the question "what car should I buy" harder than it needs to be.
Need some help? Newberg Chevrolet to the rescue! Get car buying (or leasing) tips, below.
1. Know Your Budget
Our salesmen are there to sell you the right car, not to talk you into a vehicle you can't afford. They may do that at other dealerships in Portland, Oregon, but we'd rather see you again in 10 years when you need a new car, not in 5 months because you got behind on your payments.
That's one reason we use on-site financing. You get better rates that way, and we can help find a payment plan that’s right for you.
Before you come in, know what you can put down and approximately how much you'd like to spend per month. That per-month figure should be a range, with a high end and a low-end.
2. Decide if You Want to Lease or Buy
If you're someone that likes to have the newest phone model every time it comes out, you're probably a good fit for leasing a car.
Leases are shorter terms than car payments, which allows you to switch to a newer car every few years.
They're also a better choice for growing families, as that one car seat you have now may soon turn into two - leaving no room for anyone to sit with babies in the back.
3. Don't Be Dead Set on One Car
We have hundreds of cars in our lot. And were willing to bet that at least ten, if not twenty, of them, are in your price range.
It's fine to browse our selection online, but you'd be surprised how sitting in a car is vs. just seeing a picture of it.
Keep an open mind and trust our salespeople to show you cars they think you'd like. They've been doing this a long time and have a good idea of what kind of car you need, based on what you've told them.
4. Trade-In if You Can
We love taking trades and will give you as much as the financing department says we're allowed to for it.
Trading in a car can act as a downpayment and may even open up a new price point of vehicles for you to consider.
Don't worry if your car isn't perfect - no one is. We will give you a generous offer and do the needed detailing ourselves.
5. Tell Us Everything
When it comes to talking to your salesperson, don't be shy. The more they know about your needs, the better they can cater to your car buying experience to you.
If you're thinking about having kids in a few years, let them know. More into fur babies? That means you'll need more of a hatch-back type trunk for taking the pups in the car.
They're there to help you with the process, so help them help you!
What Car Should I Buy?
At the end of the day, you're the only one that can answer the question, "What car should I buy?" Our salespeople can help and make suggestions, but they're not there to make the decision for you.
And if you need an extra day to think about it, that's okay too. Just do your salesperson a favor and work with them when you come back in. There's no reason to start building a new relationship with someone else when they've already committed to helping you.
At Newberg Chevrolet, we serve car buyers from Portland, Beaverton, Wilsonville, Salem, Gladstone, Canby, Sherwood, Woodburn, McMinnville, Gresham, Happy Valley, Clackamas, Hillsboro, and more. If it's within day-trip distance, we're there for you.
